USABC Leads Business Delegation to the 47th ASEAN Agriculture and Forestry Ministers' Meeting (AMAF) in Manila

(Manila, Philippines) – From September 30 to October 3, 2025, the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) successfully led a delegation of 6 prominent U.S. food and agriculture companies for a series of bilateral meetings with key ASEAN officials in Manila, Philippines, during the 47th ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (47th AMAF). USABC’s Executive Vice President of Research and Chief Policy Officer, Marc Mealy, co-led the mission together with the Council's Food and Agriculture Committee Chair, Cargill, and Vice Chair, Corteva Agriscience, joined by ADM, Bayer, Elanco Animal Health, and MSD Animal Health.
“USABC recognizes the economic and political importance of agricultural policy and development in ASEAN. Our members are committed to being strong partners and investors, providing solutions to the challenges facing food and agriculture in ASEAN countries,” said Marc Mealy. He further added, “The food and agriculture sector in ASEAN not only contributes to food security and employment, but also plays a critical role in advancing regional sustainability and reducing emissions.”
The mission focused on fostering multi-stakeholder strategy, advancing public-private cooperation, and highlighting the U.S. private sector’s contributions to ASEAN’s food and agriculture sector. During the plenary session, USABC presented key recommendations on Sustainable Inputs & Climate-Smart Agriculture, Digital Innovation & Agri-Tech Access, Resilient & Integrated Supply Chains, Animal Health & One Health Integration. In addition, the Council proposed the Farm to Table Initiatives to improve food quality, sustainability, and farmer livelihoods through a multi-stakeholder approach.
The delegation met with senior officials from Department of Agriculture (Philippines), Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (Vietnam), Ministry of Agriculture (Indonesia), Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (Brunei), Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (Laos), Singapore Food Agency (SFA) under the Ministry of Sustainability & the Environment (Singapore), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (Thailand), and ASEAN Secretariat. In addition, the group met with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Embassy in Manila, Philippines.
