USABC Leads Business Delegation to the 43rd ASEAN Ministers of Energy Meeting (AMEM) in Kuala Lumpur

(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) – From October 14 to October 17, 2025, the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) successfully led a delegation of six leading U.S. companies for a series of bilateral meetings with key ASEAN officials in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM). The mission was led by Dr. James Andrade, USABC’s Chief Representative in Singapore and Senior ASEAN Advisor, alongside the Council’s Energy Committee Vice-Chair, S&P Global, represented by Isabelle Neo, Director for Southeast Asia Government Affairs. The delegation also included representatives from ConocoPhillips, Excel Services Corporation, I Squared Capital, Micron Technology, and S&C Electric.

“USABC recognizes the critical role energy policy plays in ASEAN’s economic and political development,” said Dr. James Andrade. “The U.S. private sector continues to be a catalyst in ASEAN energy markets through investment, technology transfer, and project development - particularly in renewables, grid modernization, and oil & gas infrastructure,” he added.

The mission focused on fostering multi-stakeholder strategy, advancing public-private cooperation, and highlighting the U.S. private sector’s contributions to ASEAN’s energy sector. During the bilateral meetings, USABC moderated discussions surrounding the mission’s key themes: Energy Security & LNG; Low Carbon Solutions, Renewable Energy Development, Carbon Markets, and Grid Modernization; and Technology and Digitalization of the Energy Sector. These discussions emphasized the importance of aligning policy frameworks with private sector innovation to accelerate the region’s shift toward a more sustainable, secure, and integrated energy future.

The delegation met with senior officials from the ASEAN Secretariat, Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Malaysia), Department of Energy (Philippines), Ministry of Industry and Trade (Vietnam), and the U.S. Department of State.
