USABC Co-Hosts Singapore-US Forum at SIEW 2025

The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) co-hosted the Singapore-US Forum at the 2025 Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) in collaboration with the United States Department of Commerce (US DOC) and Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA).
The forum opened with remarks from Minister Tan See Leng, Minister of Manpower Singapore and a recorded message from H.E. Chris Wright, Secretary of Energy and Vice-Chair of the National Energy Dominance Council, United States of America. Keynote speeches were made by Karine Herviou, Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the US Embassy Charges d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy Singapore, Graham Mayor.
The event focused on the opportunities and challenges in Southeast Asia for civil nuclear energy and the potential regulatory frameworks for manpower, technology, research, and public education that countries should consider when implementing nuclear energy. A panel moderated by USABC President & CEO Amb. Brian McFeeters brought together leaders from government, industry, and academia to discuss how nuclear energy can support the region’s low-carbon transition. The event was emceed by USABC Senior Manager Christine Wan.
The event brought various panelists from government, industry and academia to share their remarks on how civilian nuclear energy can meet Southeast Asia’s growing energy demand. Panelists highlighted cutting-edge technology that is shaping the industry, outlined the challenges and solutions that will chart the road ahead, and reaffirmed the viability and renewed interest in nuclear energy as a low-carbon energy solution.
During closing remarks, Amb. McFeeters restated that ASEAN member states are ready to embark on a nuclear energy future, and that with aligned regulation, workforce development and regional collaboration, nuclear energy can be a feasible option for Southeast Asia.
