USABC Brings Delegation of Leading U.S. Food & Agriculture Companies to Indonesia

(Jakarta, Indonesia) – The US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) successfully organized a delegation comprising six prominent U.S. food and agriculture companies for a series of meetings with key Indonesian agricultural officials in Jakarta from May 25-June 7, 2023

During this mission, the US-ABC delegation engaged in discussions on U.S.-Indonesia agricultural cooperation with various Indonesian government officials through both in-person meetings and virtual sessions.

The delegation’s engagements included the Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food and Agriculture at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Director General of Agriculture Based Industry at the Ministry of Industry, the Head of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Agriculture, the Coordinator for Cooperation at the Halal Product Assurance Agency, the Head of the Research Organization for Agriculture & Food at BRIN, and the Food Security Policy Manager of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council. Additionally, the delegation had valuable meeting with the U.S. Agriculture Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta.

The mission exemplified the robust agricultural bond between the United States and Indonesia, underscoring the commitment of both nations to enhance bilateral collaboration within the industry. Delegates from the US-ABC emphasized the significance of food security, food safety, new technology and innovative sustainable agriculture, harnessing science-based regulatory approaches, increasing bilateral trade, and capacity building for development as crucial areas of focus for U.S. agricultural business in Indonesia.

The delegation was led by the Council’s Food & Agriculture Committee Co-Chair, Elanco Animal Health. The other delegates included MSD Animal Health, Philip Morris International, Corteva, Illumina, and the U.S. Dairy Export Council.
