USABC and Google Cloud Introduce AI-Powered Cybersecurity Operations to Safeguard Data and Upskill Local Talent

(Jakarta, Indonesia) The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), in partnership with Google Cloud, organized a media briefing titled "Google Cloud’s Expanded Commitment to Indonesia: Bolstering Cyber Resilience with AI-Powered SecOps." This event is part of the Bisnis Amerika Serikat untuk Indonesia (or BISA) campaign under America Matters for Indonesia, a joint initiative with the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta that aims to promote the hidden stories behind U.S. businesses contributions to Indonesia, in areas such as investment, employment, industrialization, technology, and economic growth.

Hosted at the @america office in Jakarta, the event opened with remarks from Lyle Goode, Cybersecurity and Digital Economy Officer at the U.S. Embassy, followed by Nugraheni Utami, Interim Chief Country Representative at USABC. The event concluded with closing remarks from Angga Antagia, USABC’s Senior Director for Strategic Initiatives and ASEAN.

“As Indonesia accelerates its transformation into a leading digital economy, the need for robust protection against cyber threats becomes increasingly critical,” said Nugraheni Utami. “AI-powered security operations, such as those offered by Google Cloud, play a pivotal role in safeguarding national data. The US-ASEAN Business Council is proud to support such innovations as part of our commitment to advancing Indonesia’s digital ecosystem,” she added.

The two-hour event featured two main sessions. The first, led by Fanly Tanto, Country Director of Google Cloud Indonesia, highlighted the economic advantages of AI-driven security operations in strengthening Indonesia’s data infrastructure. She also introduced "Indonesia BerdAIa for Security," a new initiative developed in collaboration with Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) in Indonesia. The program enables Google Cloud to design tailored detection and response roadmaps, while simultaneously upskilling and certifying local engineers to handle real-time cyberattack scenarios.

The second session, presented by Marcel Judodihardjo, Solutions Consultant for Security at Google Cloud Indonesia, showcased a live, end-to-end simulation of Google Cloud’s investigation assistant, an AI-powered cybersecurity tool that generates complex search queries for threat hunting and resolution building towards suspicious activities. His session ended with a fireside chat on cybersecurity innovation and development, featuring Anas Dwi Vidianto, Head of Cybersecurity and Operations Division Astra International, and Endra Tri Cahyono, Manager, Network and Security Operations of Kereta Api Indonesia.

The media briefing was attended by 30 media outlets, cybersecurity professionals, Google Cloud business partners, and key government agencies, including the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), the Ministry of Communication and Digital (KOMDIGI), and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (Kemenko Perekonomian), among others.

“Today’s partnership between Google Cloud, USABC, the U.S. Embassy, and stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, underscores the importance of the U.S.–Indonesia relationship in realizing a shared vision of a secure and inclusive digital future,” said Angga Antagia in his closing remarks.

Through this partnership with Google Cloud, USABC remains committed to fostering technological innovation and supporting the adoption of AI solutions across Indonesia’s cybersecurity landscape. This initiative not only strengthens data protection for public, private, and government entities, but also contributes to developing local digital talent and expanding employment opportunities as Indonesia enters a new era of AI-driven transformation.
