US-ASEAN Business Council Hosts President of Indonesia H.E. Prabowo Subianto, Strengthening U.S.–Indonesia Relations

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the US Indonesia Society, hosted a Business Summit in honor of H.E. Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, along with senior U.S. and Indonesian officials.

President Prabowo was accompanied by key cabinet members, including the Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs, Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources, the Investment & Downstreaming Minister, the Danantara CEO, and the Cabinet Secretary. Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Rick Switzer and his team attended on behalf of the U.S. government.

During the Summit, President Prabowo witnessed the signing of 10 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between U.S. and Indonesian companies across multiple sectors, including oil and gas, critical minerals, corn, cotton, wood products, semiconductors, and downstreaming joint ventures.

“Indonesia and the United States are choosing continued and deeper economic cooperation, stronger market access, and greater certainty for business,” President Prabowo stated in his remarks. “For business leaders, certainty matters. And we are looking for long-term partners who will work with us to grow our economies together.”

Amb. Brian McFeeters (ret.), President & CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council, emphasized the importance of the partnership. “Indonesia represents one of the most significant growth opportunities in the Indo-Pacific for American companies. As discussions around the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade reach completion, the U.S. private sector stands ready to work with both governments to translate strategic alignment into concrete outcomes.”

Deputy USTR Ambassador Rick Switzer highlighted the mutual benefits of the partnership, noting that the United States seeks not only to support American companies operating in Indonesia, but also to encourage Indonesian firms to expand their presence in the United States—growing together not as competitors, but as partners.

The Summit concluded with a business engagement session between U.S. and Indonesian companies. USABC signed MoUs with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO).

The Business Summit in honor of President Prabowo Subianto was supported by Freeport-McMoRan, ExxonMobil, Adelphi Capital, F. Chapman Taylor, bp, Cargill, Caterpillar, PepsiCo, and S&P Global.
