US-ASEAN Business Council Hosts Cybersecurity Workshop in Jakarta to Strengthen Indonesia’s Digital Resilience Amid Emerging Technologies

(Jakarta, Indonesia) On November 18, 2025, the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) hosted a high-level cybersecurity workshop in Jakarta titled “Strengthening Indonesia’s Digital Future: Advancing Cybersecurity in the Age of Emerging Technologies.” The event convened senior Indonesian cybersecurity and digital policymakers, U.S. technology leaders, and key private-sector stakeholders to strengthen public-private dialogue on the intersection of cybersecurity policy and emerging-technology governance.

The Workshop forms part of USABC’s 2025 cybersecurity advocacy program and reflects Indonesia’s rapidly expanding digital economy. With national digital growth accelerating across e-commerce, fintech, and online services, this engagement comes at a pivotal moment to reinforce cyber resilience and ensure secure digital innovation.

In her opening remarks, USABC’s Chief Country Representative for Indonesia, Ms. Nugraheni Utami, reaffirmed cybersecurity as a strategic regional priority. She highlighted the importance of sustained public-private collaboration and the significant contributions of U.S. industry in supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation.

USABC had the honor of welcoming Mr. A. Rachmad Wibowo, Deputy Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), as the Workshop’s Guest-of-Honor. The Workshop also featured keynote remarks from Ambassador Peter M. Haymond, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia, and Mr. Abdul Rahim, Regional Head of Risk at Visa.

Our moderated panel discussions also featured senior Indonesian government leaders including Drs. Slamet Aji Pamungkas (BSSN); Mr. Edwin Hidayat Abdullah (Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs), and Mr. Adi Budiarso (Ministry of Finance), alongside U.S. industry experts Mr. Abdul Rahim (Visa) and Ms. Lilian Rogers (Cisco Systems). Panelists shared insights on national cybersecurity priorities, highlighting the significance of risk-based AI governance and the principle of secure-by-design. The discussions underscored the critical role of public-private partnerships; emphasis was placed on developing tailored strategies to strengthen digital resilience, particularly within the financial sector and other areas of critical infrastructure.

The Workshop concluded with strong commitment from both government and industry partners to continue practical, solution-focused cooperation that advances Indonesia’s cyber preparedness and supports a trusted, inclusive digital future. USABC extends its sincere appreciation to Visa and Cisco Systems for their generous support in making the workshop possible.
