US-ASEAN Business Council Delegation to Indonesia Reaffirms Support to Advance Indonesia’s Digital Economy

(Jakarta, Indonesia)— From July 21 to 22, the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) convened its 2026 Digital Economy Mission to Indonesia in Jakarta, bringing together senior government officials and industry leaders to advance dialogue on Indonesia’s digital transformation and reaffirm the critical role of public-private partnership in supporting the country’s ambitions to become a leading regional digital hub.
USABC convened a dinner dialogue with Vice Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria to exchange views on Indonesia’s current ICT priorities and opportunities for public-private partnership. The Mission also featured an inter-ministerial dialogue with senior officials from the Ministry of National Development Planning, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs. Discussions underscored the importance of a whole-of-government approach to modernizing Indonesia’s digital economy and identified opportunities for continued cooperation.
USABC also organized bilateral meetings with senior officials from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Directorates of Digital Space Supervision, Digital Ecosystem, and Digital Infrastructure); Bank Indonesia; Financial Services Authority (Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Finance Assets, and Crypto Assets Supervisory Agency and Market Conduct Supervision, Financial Education, and Customer Protection Agency); Ministry of Industry (Directorate of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industries); and the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta. Discussions highlighted the importance of trusted AI ecosystems, cybersecurity resiliency and online safety, secure digital infrastructure and connectivity, and cross-border data flows.
“Indonesia is currently one of the fastest growing digital economies in the world. As Indonesia modernizes its digital economy regulations, key policy agendas under discussion will define this market for years to come,” said Mario Masaya, Vice President of Research, Technology and Financial Services. “The successful adoption of trusted digital technologies by all stakeholders, from small businesses to major government institutions, will be key to realizing the potential of Indonesia’s digital economy to grow from $100 billion to as much as $360 billion by 2030.”

The delegation consisted of nine companies, including Airbnb, Amazon, Cisco Systems, Mastercard Indonesia, Oracle, Salesforce, SAP, and Vriens & Partners Pte Ltd.
