US-ASEAN Business Council Appoints Ambassador Brian D. McFeeters as Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director

(Singapore) – The US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) today announces the appointment of Ambassador Brian D. McFeeters as the Council’s new Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director. Ambassador McFeeters joined the Council on October 1, 2023. ​ 

Ambassador McFeeters is a seasoned diplomat and a proven leader with over 30 years of experience advancing U.S. economic and strategic interests in Southeast Asia and beyond. He was most recently the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia, where he has strengthened trade, investment, security, and people-to-people ties. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, and as the Political Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, among other assignments in the region and Washington, D.C. ​

Ambassador Brian D. McFeeters is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. He served as the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the Political Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. He has also served in various assignments in Washington, D.C., including as the Director of the Office of Southeast Asian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. ​ 

Ambassador McFeeters was awarded B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Notre Dame, an M.S. from the University of New Mexico, and an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. His foreign languages include Malaysian, Indonesian, French, Spanish, and German.
