Strengthening Bilateral Investment: USABC, AmCham Indonesia, and Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry / Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Sign MoU

The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (AmCham Indonesia), in close collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/BKPM, marked a significant milestone in U.S.-Indonesia economic cooperation with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 30, 2025, in Jakarta, titled, “Technical Cooperation on Investment Support and Facilitation in Indonesia.”
The MoU was signed by Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry/Head of Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bapak Rosan P. Roeslani and USABC Senior Vice President & Regional Managing Director, Amb. Ted Osius and as well as by AmCham Indonesia Managing Director, Donna Priadi. This agreement reflects a shared commitment to deepen two-way investment ties and promote a more strategic and inclusive partnership between Indonesia and the United States.
The MoU establishes a structured framework to facilitate ongoing collaboration, particularly in addressing policy bottlenecks, encouraging sustainable investment practices, and supporting Indonesia’s ambition to become a competitive hub in the global economic landscape. It also underlines the importance of transparent communication and regular public-private dialogue to ensure a more predictable and investor-friendly environment.
“This MoU serves as an important step toward building a more coordinated investment strategy with U.S. stakeholders. It sends a strong signal of our commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, removing investment barriers, and fostering partnerships that create real impact for both countries,” said Minister Rosan during the ceremony.
Ambassador Ted Osius, USABC Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director, also emphasized that the significance of the MoU as a key step in strengthening U.S.-Indonesia investment ties. “This cooperation is launched at a particularly important moment in the U.S.-Indonesia economic relationship. We view this dialogue as a concrete platform to identify policy priorities, resolve bottlenecks, and expand opportunities for high-quality investment,” said Ambassador Ted Osius. “At USABC and AmCham Indonesia, we are committed to supporting Indonesia’s priorities for inclusive and sustainable development.”
Following the signing, a discussion was held between Minister Rosan and key executives from U.S. multinationals, covering topics such as the implementation of Indonesia’s new investment incentives, the green industry transition, and alignment with Indonesia’s long-term development agenda. The MoU builds on the long-standing partnership between USABC, AmCham Indonesia, and the Government of Indonesia, with a focus on priority sectors such as digital infrastructure, energy transition, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.
This new chapter in U.S.-Indonesia investment relations signals a deepened commitment to inclusive growth, policy innovation, and public-private synergy to help Indonesia reach its ambitious economic goals.
