A Year of Progress: Strengthening the U.S.-Indonesia Partnership Under Prabowo's First Year in Office

(Jakarta) – The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) hosted its 2025 Indonesia Business Mission in Jakarta from 15 to 17 October. With the theme, “Marking a Year of Progress: Strengthening the U.S.–Indonesia Business Relationship,” this year’s mission coincides with Indonesia’s 80th anniversary of Independence and the Merah Putih Cabinet’s first year in office.

USABC President and CEO Amb. Brian McFeeters (ret.) said, “This year we bring 36 U.S. companies, most of which are Fortune 500, many now being led by senior executives from Indonesia, demonstrating that the U.S. private sector is not only committed to U.S.-Indonesia business ties but is providing certainty and consistency in a time of trade-policy uncertainty.” The U.S private sector’s business impact has spread beyond Jakarta to the rest of Indonesia, with over 52% of recent investment outside of Java. The Mission was co-led by Amb. Mcfeeters and Amb. Ted Osius (ret.), USABC Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director, as well as Batara Sianturi, USABC Indonesia Committee Chair and CEO of Citi Indonesia.

To demonstrate concrete impact, on October 14, right before the Mission started, USABC launched its “Bisnis AS untuk Indonesia/U.S. Businesses for Indonesia (BISA)” report, which highlights U.S. companies’ contributions to Asta Cita goals to achieve economic growth and resilience, workforce and human capital development, industrialization, and downstreaming. In addition, to continue emphasizing the importance of Indonesia to American businesses and the global supply chain, this month, USABC and the East-West Center will launch the 7th edition of “ASEAN Matters to America, America Matters to ASEAN report.”

During the mission, delegates had the opportunity to present their business expansion and investment plans in Indonesia to members of the Merah Putih Cabinet, including the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Finance Minister, Trade Minister, Health Minister, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Governor of DKI Jakarta, Vice Minister of National Development Planning, Vice Minister of Industry, Vice Minister of Transport, Vice Minister of Defense, to Secretary General of Ministry of Environment.
